Description:

When wandering around Boston you may have notice identical bicycles parked in groups throughout the city. This is not a random group of bicycle riders who are following you around the city; it is New Balance Hubway, Boston's bike sharing system. New to Boston as of July 2011, 600 bicycles are located at  61 stations around the city (expansion is in the works).  Part of Mayor Menino's Bike Boston initiative, Hubway has become a popular mode of transport around the city.

A fun way to explore, Hubway offers rentals to suit the needs of natives and tourists alike. Annual membership are available for the lowest cost, of course ($85 annual fee, 30 minute rides free and 25% off any rides longer than 30 minutes), but 3 day ($12 membership fee), and 24-hour access ($5 membership fee) are also options.

Be careful of the escalating prices, all riders are offered a 30 minute ride free with the cost of membership, but prices escalate rapidly after that (a full day of riding, 7 hours, is a whopping $100).

Think of Hubway as your short term solution for getting from point A to point B rather than for  a full day of ride around fun.
