Description:

  • The Longfellow Bridge which was originally known as the Cambridge bridge was renamed for Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The bridge is nicknamed 'The Salt and Pepper Shaker Bridge' because of the similarity of the central pillars/towers that hold the bridge together. The bridge connects Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood to Cambridge's Kendall Square area. The Charles/MGH train station rests on the eastern end of the bridge. This landmark's beauty and craftsmanship cannot be missed.
