- Phillip Johnson (1906-2005) was an iconoclast in the field of modern architecture. Reminiscent of Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, Johnson's first and most famous project, the Glass House of New Canaan, Connecticut, is open to the public as a catalyst for modern architecture education. The Glass House is an architectural masterpiece, utilizing light, shape, and medium in unique and unprecedented forms. With tours of up to ten people, walking the grounds is exclusive and highly informative. Vistiting the Glass House is an experience for the senses, intellect, and emotions. If you do nothing else while in New England, schedule a visit to the Phillip Johnson Glass House. Although you may or may not be spiritual, you will come away feeling that God exists. For any architecture aficionado or curious individual, the Glass House is a must-see. Open seasonally from April to October.
