    • Robert Gould Shaw Memorial is a well known monument in Boston Common. It is dedicated to Col. Robert Gould Shaw and is made by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The sculpture depicts him on horseback with the 54th Regiment, the first ever all Black, all-volunteer regiment in the Union Army. They died in Fort Wagner in 1863 and the monument was installed in 1897.
