(I think) There is no question more difficult for a Bostonian to answer! Downtown, we have the great P.F. Chang's. If you would rather try a classic Boston restaurant, it has to be The Marliave. A taxi ride from the center of town? Definitely Doyle's in Jamaica Plain, Amhrein's in South Boston or The Eire Pub in Dorchester. These are full of local flavor, for the palate & for the eye. If at Doyle's, be sure to start with their chowder in a bread bowl & make it the week end, if you want to tour the Sam Adams brewery down the street: there is a shuttle between the two.
