In the summertime, the Boulder Reservoir has swimming, boating, water-skiing, and more fun water activities. Eben G. Fine Park along the Boulder Creek is the prime spot for tubing and also has a playground for the kids, along with plenty of picnic tables and shady spots for lounging.
A fun nighttime activity in the summer is the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Order dinner when you pick up your tickets and enjoy a picnic on the beautiful CU Boulder campus before the show, complete with strolling madrigals. Then 45 minutes before show time, attend a conversation about the upcoming play with one of the Festival's staff members, which is bound to enhance your experience. Or if music is more your style, catch a concert at the unparalleled Red Rock Amphitheater.
In the winter, outdoor skating at The Ice Rink and skiing and snowboarding at Eldora Mountain Resort are fun options for the whole family.
