Although most Boulderites go out to dinner in their Chacos, there are several places in town that are reserved for special occasions and special attire. Flagstaff House is arguably the "special occasion restaurant" of town with its romantic ambiance and stunning view of the city.
The French cuisine of Black Cat, L'Atelier, and Mateo is romantic in itself, as are the ambiances of these small, elegant restaurants on Pearl Street. Like the historically found Frascas found throughout Friuli, Italy, Frasca Food and Wine is full of local farm cuisine, wine, and warm hospitality. The Med, a more modestly priced restaurant serving cuisine from Italy, Spain, Greece, and France, has lush foliage growing everywhere and an imported Italian wood burning stove glowing in the background.

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse — given to Boulder by our sister city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan — has gorgeous hand-carved and hand-painted ceilings, columns, and ceramic panels that create a unique and romantic ambiance.
Fine wine, decadent fare, intimate atmosphere—it's all here. Dessert might not be sweetest part of the night after all.
