Ah, to kick back in the greenery of Boulder's parks. Whether you want to stroll, rent bikes, let the kids run loose or throw out a blanket and nap in the sun, nothing says leisure like a day in the park.
Eben G. Fine Park is one of the most popular spots in the warmer months, with families grilling and picnicking, kids playing in the Boulder Creek and on the playground, tubers floating down the rapids, and bikers riding through on the Boulder Creek Path.
Scott Carpenter Park is a great year-round park. During the summer, a large outdoor pool draws crowds and during the winter the park becomes a sledding paradise. A rocket shaped jungle gym attracts hordes of young enthusiasts year-round, as does the skatepark with a 10-foot half pipe.
Chautauqua has the best view of the Flatirons around, and makes for a great spot for a picnic, a hike, a jog, or a nap under a shady tree. Venture up Flagstaff Mountain for some more secluded picnicking spots.
For a nice day trip, Estes Park is a gorgeous mountain town with plenty of spots to picnic, read a book, or work up a sweat. It's also the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, which is the biggest park around!
