Description:
- This trail follows an old road out of Hessie, across Middle boulder Creek, to the junction of King and Devils Thumb Lakes Trail. Stay right on the old road. Pass the branch to Woodland Lake Trail at 2.5 miles. Devils Thumb Trail crosses Jasper Creek, passes the Diamond Lake cutoff, Jasper Lake (10,800') and then travels along the south shore of Devils thumb Lake. The trail continues steeply over Devils Thumb Pass (12,100') to the Corona Trail, which is a north south trail on the Divide intersecting Rollins Pass to the south. Proceeding north, one can drop into Devils Thumb Park or travel cross country to Caribou/Arapaho Passes for a loop trip.
The trail joins the Diamond Lake Trail .5 mile east of Jasper Lake. A shorter day hike to Lost Lake, an old mining camp, can be made by following the Lost Lake turnoff at the sign.
NOTE: The trail shown as Devils Thumb Pas on the USGS quad is not in the right location. The pass is actually .5 mile south near the promontory marked 12,123.
