- Rainbow Lakes Campground is located northwest of Nederland on Forest Road 298. It sits about a mile from the Indian Peaks Wilderness Boundary and Rainbow Lakes.

- The Mitchell trail ends at Blue Lake in the fragile forest/tundra transition zone. The trail is very crowded on summer weekends.

Mitchell Creek Picnic Ground
- The Mitchell Lake trail is heavily used by hikers and horseback riders. Camping is confined by the geographic setting. Many of the sites which have obviously been camped on are not legal under the wilderness regulations.
