Breckenridge Ski Resort - Breckenridge

  • Description:

    • Breckenridge is Summit County's signature ski resort. It opened on December 16, 1961, with one double chair, a midway unloading station and one short T-bar. Throughout the years, the resort has been owned by many unlikely corporations, which include 20th Century Fox and Ralston Purina, of dog chow fame. However, for over a decade, it has been a member of the Vail Resorts family. The resort now boasts 155 trails that span four connected mountains. The Breck Connect Gondola connects visitors with town and the mountain, and the new Imperial Express is the highest chairlift in North America. It provides lift-serviced access to backcountry terrain. Five terrain parks and four pipes make Breckenridge a popular destination for freestyle skiers who want to show off their tricks. However, novice should not be intimidated. The Quicksilver lift services some of the best beginner terrain in the country, and a dedicated ski and ride school staff will teach you to cruise the slopes with confidence. Parking is available, but if you stay near the slopes. It will be expensive. Instead, take the free Summit Stage Bus to Breckenridge Station, and then the gondola or the resort bus to the mountain.
