Description:
In March, Breckenridge is crowded with Spring Breakers from all parts of the world. The slopes are crowded, lodging is at a premium and locals tend to be less friendly than usual. When April arrives, there is still an abundance of snow on the mountains. In fact, Ullr the Snow God has been known to play some nasty tricks on the spring break crowd. As soon as they leave, he blesses the mountain with an abundance of snow. In April, Breckenridge hosts the Spring Massive, which features massive discounts on lodging and gear, massive dining discounts and and an exciting menu of special events.
Day Note:
We have you booked into the Fireside Inn, which is one of the most charming, but least expensive lodging venues in Breckenridge. Breakfast is included, so there's no need to go out for food. On your first day, you should acclimate to the altitude, so we're keeping you off the slopes!

Description:
Breckenridge is a perfect example of a "gold fever" mining town turned resort town, without losing its old fashioned charm. The structures represent the 19th century, and are still beautifully maintained. On this tour you will take a walk through the Historic District, visiting historic sites like the 1880 Alice G. Milne House and the 1896 W.H. Briggle House. You'll visit some of the first houses in town-log cabins, mail-order houses and upper-crest residences. You'll learn about the commercial side of Breckenridge in this area, and see where banks, schools, and post offices were housed.

Day Note:
You're ready to go skiing! Set your alarm early, and get a good breakfast. Hint: Although the slopes shouldn't be too crowded, if you want a chance at fresh tracks, get to the lifts by 8:45. You can spend some time snuggling with the Fireside Inn owner's two wonderful standard poodles, but make sure you leave enough time to catch the free bus, which fortunately stops in front of the Inn!

Description:
Breckenridge is Summit County's signature ski resort. It opened on December 16, 1961, with one double chair, a midway unloading station and one short T-bar. Throughout the years, the resort has been owned by many unlikely corporations, which include 20th Century Fox and Ralston Purina, of dog chow fame. However, for over a decade, it has been a member of the Vail Resorts family. The resort now boasts 155 trails that span four connected mountains. The Breck Connect Gondola connects visitors with town and the mountain, and the new Imperial Express is the highest chairlift in North America. It provides lift-serviced access to backcountry terrain. Five terrain parks and four pipes make Breckenridge a popular destination for freestyle skiers who want to show off their tricks. However, novice should not be intimidated. The Quicksilver lift services some of the best beginner terrain in the country, and a dedicated ski and ride school staff will teach you to cruise the slopes with confidence. Parking is available, but if you stay near the slopes. It will be expensive. Instead, take the free Summit Stage Bus to Breckenridge Station, and then the gondola or the resort bus to the mountain.
