Parliament Buildings

Parliament Buildings - Bridgetown

  • Description:

    • Built in 1871 after the fire of 1860, these neo-gothic style buildings stand defiant in the wake of the ongoing modern development of Bridgetown. The famous clock tower was destroyed in 1884 but replaced in 1886 and stands as a reminder of Barbados' rich past. Still in operation today, the structures are host to the third most venerable legislative body in the British Commonwealth of Nations. Portraits and stained glass windows of former British Monarchs adorn the walls in austere old European grandeur.
