The Lanes
The Lanes (spelled Lanes, not Laines like the North Laines) are a series of small streets resembling an old fishing village. The South Lanes are more old fashioned in appearance and have more expensive, upper end bars, restaurants and stores. The South Lanes are a great place to stop for designer shopping, antique stuffed toys or a fabulous faux or real cocktail.
Be sure to visit the Impure Art in Ship Street, if you like racy artwork. The Lanes haven't changed much stylistically from their roots as streets in an old fishing village and house most of the city's designer shops and boutiques. This area is particularly known for jewellery shops.
