Orchard Beach - Bronx

    • Spread across 115 acres and stretching 1.1 mile, Orchard Beach is a man-made beach located in Pelham Bay Park. It was created on Long Island Sound by Parks Commissioner Robert Moses during the 1930s. It is regarded as 'The Riviera' of New York and is divided into 13 sections including the beach, a hexagonal promenade, central pavilion, playgrounds, picnic areas, a parking lot and 26 courts for various ball games. During summer this place is frequented by sunbathers and beach sport enthusiasts.
