The Best of NileGuide

Due to the influx of diplomats and other EU dignitaries visiting the headquarters in Brussels, hotel prices fluctuate in the city throughout the week. There's always a steady stream of visitors in the area, even if they're there on EU business, and some of the best accommodation deals are held during non-EU business periods in the summer and on the weekends. The presence of the EU in Brussels also means that many hotels cater to long-term visits, with deals ranging from one evening to one year (although anything longer than a month and you're probably best off subletting an apartment).
Students and thrift travelers will always have the famed European hostel option, with hostels in the city center that offer clean, often surprisingly chic accommodations for 20 or 30 Euros per night in a dorm. There are several, similarly priced cheap hotel options for private, decent rooms, some centrally located near the Grand Palace-Grote Markt area, and others in the red light district and train station areas. The latter areas should be approached carefully at night, especially for female travelers visiting by themselves and anyone wishing to avoid pickpockets.
For those willing to spend upwards of 50 Euros per evening, Brussels is flush with attractive hotels that mostly cater to visiting businessmen, many of which pride themselves on their four-star accommodations for a relatively affordable price. The five-star luxury hotels range anywhere from 100 to 300 Euros per evening, with the Hotel Métropole offering rooms in a gorgeous 19th-century palace and the Le Châtelain All Suite Hotel treating guests to luxurious suites and a rooftop fitness center. The posh Hotel Le Plaza has a variety of summer special offers with reduced prices, although it will likely still fall beyond the backpackers' budget.
