Where to Get a Beer in Bryce Canyon

Where to Get a Beer in Bryce Canyon

Description:

Utah has a colorful history of telling its residents and visitors what to do. Liquor laws certainly have reflected this stern attitude! But in the last decade, and even more in the past few years, the laws surrounding alcoholic beverages have loosened up in response to public nudging (and, possibly, eye-rolling). Long story short: you can indeed quaff a nice brew or sip a glass of house red at Bryce Canyon. The trick is knowing where to go. We're up to the challenge of giving you the skinny on where to get a beer in (and near) Bryce Canyon.

Day Note:

Honest truth: finding an alcoholic drink in the area just surrounding Bryce Canyon isn't easy. Your best bet might be picking up liquor in St. George or Salt Lake City before you arrive at Bryce. However, you do have a few local options. The Lodge at Bryce Canyon is located right inside the Park itself. They serve beer and wine a well as a sustainable menu culled from local growers. The Cowboy's Buffet, outside Bryce Canyon, is a true Western dining experience,...read more

They have a full liquor license

    Description:

Enjoy a steak or fresh trout at Clarke's Restaurant, a cute little western eatery located within the Bryce Valley Inn. Basic menu items like pasta or a burger promise to satiate after a long day outside. Décor at Clarke's Restaurant is charmingly styled after the Old West, and the establishment is fully liquor licensed. Not bad bang for your buck, although don't go expecting great things. You get what you pay for.

Day Note:

If you're heading east from Bryce Canyon (typical of the Grand Circle loop tour that most visitors do), you drive right through Escalante. Cowboy Blues, 40 miles east of Bryce Canyon, touts the "best margaritas in town," as well as beer, wine, and other spirits. In the middle of town you'll find Esca-Latte Internet Cafe, which doubles as home to Escalante Canyon Outfitters, as well as being the town's official state-sanctioned liquor outlet. Got that? This place has it all: outdoor gear, beer & wine as a state-licensed liquor store, good food, and great smoothies. The outside deck is perfect for noshing & sometimes features live music.

    Description:

Wonderful espresso, yummy pizza, and one of the largest selections of local Utah microbrews on tap and in bottle make the Esca-Latte Internet Café and Pizza Parlor worth the trip to Escalante Outfitters. Stay connected with the outside world if you bring your laptop, use theirs, or forget it about it over a couple of brews and a slice. Salads, sandwiches, and other light fare are also available. They also offer accommodations, in the form of cabins, tent sites, and one RV space. An outfitting service, gear shop, topo map selection, regional books to browse, and the area's state liquor store help round out this great little place. Live entertainment often happens on their covered deck in the front.
