  • Grabbing a sushi has become a cultic thing to do world-wide. Budapest, like all cities, has its selection of Japanese restaurants providing its culinary scene with an array of the well-loved speciality, as well as a whole range of other Japanese delicacies. The Japanese dining scene of Budapest is rather diverse, from top-class, five-star restaurants oozing an air of luxury to little homey sushi or noodle bars where one pops in to grab a bite before rushing on. This top ten list of Japanese restaurants in Budapest has it all.

Our top four picks are top of the range restaurant, which may be pricey but are worth every penny. In first place is Nobu, a top class Japanese restaurant with a Michelin Star chef, one of the latest additions to the Japanese dining scene of Budapest. In second place is Fuji, a traditional Japanese restaurant that prides itself on using exclusively bio ingredients of the highest quality. In third place is Takebayashi, a traditional Japanese restaurant infamous for its huge sushi boat. Kyoto in fourth place boasts with a great view of the Danube. It serves an array of Japanese, Thai and Western variations of oriental delicacies in an eclectic atmosphere of elegance, modernity and eastern charm.

Our fifth pick, Sushi Sei, is classed as one of the top 100 restaurants in Budapest in 2009 with a chef who has been making sushi for over 38 years.

Our next to picks are all you can eat sushi bars: the Wasabi and the Tokyo, both equipped with a conveyor belt on which the oriental treats are rotated around on.

In eighth place is Planet Sushi, a clean cut and reasonably priced Japanese restaurant whose menu is centred on sushi, with extras such as import beers and sake.

Our last two picks are two smaller restaurants, Sushi An and Arigato, both simple but delicious Japanese foods.
