  • Stuck at the airport due to flight delay? It's these top 10 things to do near Ferihegy that will keep you occupied and save you from spending heaps of cash at the duty free shops. The airport and its neighbourhood isn't the area one would put on the agenda for sightseeing, but no panic, there are still a few options using public transport.

    The one attraction conveniently located a 5 minute walk from Ferihegy Terminal 2 is the Aviation Memorial Park, making that out number one pick.

    In second place is the Sárkány Centre, a large shopping mall a 5-10 minute ride away. Take bus no. 200.

    The nearest junction to the airport is Kőbánya Kispest, from where the Kispest Uszoda is only a few minutes' walk away, and the Europark (another shopping mall): one stop by metro.

    The city centre is only 17 minutes by train, which you can catch right outside Terminal 1: Nyugati railway Station is the terminal, and right next to it is the West End; the largest shopping centre of Central Europe.

    The Hungarian Orthodox Church is located along Üllői Road leading up to the airport, and the Museum of Applied Arts at the Üllői/Great Ring Road junction.

    The Planetarium has to take last place being about 10 stops from Kőbánya Kispest, so only chose this attraction is you have over 3 hours to kill.
