Hannah's Orthodox Restaurant

Description:

  • If you happen to be at the Orthodox Kazinczy Synagogue, you will see signs for this restaurant next to two oversize metal doors with a buzzer to push to be let into the courtyard. You can enter this way, but this is the back entrance. One of two kosher restaurants in the city, this one has a large room with simple tables and chairs that lack any decoration. Serving good kosher meals at low prices is the utmost concern, not making this a place to linger about. On the wall is a framed certificate of kosher authenticity. The menu changes daily, but the price range stays the same. We could not help but overhear very satisfied tourists praising the food while we were here. The other positive is that the cashier will try to get someone to open the synagogue for viewing in the afternoons if it is not already open -- an added benefit to having a meal here.
