Exemplary food and service, ideal place to experience upscale Hungarian cuisine. Great, central location just outside of the tourist district.

  • Description:

    • This restaurant was built in 1877. Ownership changed hands in 1997, when Dr Akos Nildai wanted to restore Karpatia's reputation as one of the best restaurants in the inner-city district. Different rooms have hand-painted walls, fantastic gold coverings and Gothic arches. The inner rooms are painted with depictions of battles and knights in the Romantic style. In the brasserie, there are beautiful stained glass windows and the inner courtyard is an ideal place for summer lunches. This restaurant offers Transylvania and Hungarian cuisine with dishes such as crisp roast goose leg and a range of soups and stews. There are also quality wines with local specialties.

    • Not only was the Brasserie very nice, the food was excellent. Went there for lunch. As it was our first day, Hungarian Goulash, of course. Great, seasoned waiters!
