Description:
When a restaurant serves excellent Italian food, but also has Hungarian items on the menu, it makes it difficult to pigeonhole it into a category. Walking into Olíva is like entering an old-fashioned Italian country farmhouse, with country-style plates and knickknacks in shadowboxes decorating the walls and the red-checked tablecloths adding to the country charm. In spite of the busy large room, there is still a sense of coziness that envelopes each table, blocking out the rest of the surroundings. We ventured here as a group of eight, which did not inhibit the very competent staff. The service was quick and efficient throughout the evening. We started with the meat soup with spinach tortilla strips, a flavorful broth with an abundant amount of chewy stripes floating in it. The chicken with feta cheese was served as two extra-large pounded chicken breasts with thick slices of feta cheese roasted on top and a large bowl of Hungarian-style cucumber salad, where the cucumber is julienned and swimming in a sour cream sauce. At the end of the meal, we were given Limoncello, the Italian lemon liqueur, to end the evening.
