Description:
- Despite the Latin American name and theme, the restaurant's forte rests with its Italian cuisine which has to be the best, most authentic and most delicious in the city. Puerto Escondido is tucked away in an unassuming street under a shop front, which during the day serves as an ice cream parlour. The decor relies heavily on wood, with high chunky tables and rickety chairs placed in a selection of romantic cubbyholes. A few paintings mingle with the compulsory tropical drink posters that are so popular in Italian bars. The ceiling is covered with thick raffia and a Gypsy Kings tape goes around endlessly on a loop. Spanish creations like gazpacho mingle with the zuppa di cipolla and Parma ham with melon. Paella Valenica for two is an option is you fancy sharing or else try the spaghetti Amalfi or the spaghetti carbonara followed by chicken breast in white wine sauce.
