Description:

  • Quint is apparently the fifth level in the diatonic scale as well as an unassuming cafe tucked in between Deak ter metro and Vaci utca. It is an ideal venue for breakfast, lunch or a quick snack. The café itself is long and narrow, with a balcony. The overall impression given by the decor is of yellow and brown in a kind of comforting cake and custard pudding array of colors. The walls are a cheerful egg yolk colour, the floor is tiled and the chairs and fittings are chocolate brown. The café is self-service so you order at the bar and get a tray. Most meals appear to be cold - awaiting reheating in the microwave. All kinds of dishes are presented on the counter in huge school dinner-style troughs. A range of Hungarian delicacies are all covered in a thick layer of melted cheese. The layered potato, a layered vegetarian dish, sztrapacska (a Slovak dish of noodles, bacon fat and sour cream), stuffed cabbage, stuffed potato, chicken legs with cabbage and lasagne are all a bargain. Salads and desserts are also available. There is also Czech Budweiser in bottles.
