  • Type: Museums
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Newly opened and state of the art, this museum details the atrocities carried out by Hungarian Arrow Cross (Nazi) soldiers against their fellow countrymen. All exhibits presented in both Hungarian and English. Young, helpful, bi-lingual staff.

  • Description:

    • The Holocaust Memorial Center opened in 2004 after additional building were completed to encompass the small Páva Synagogue within. During World War II, the synagogue was an internment camp for Jews. Mixing classical with modern architecture, the center has an irregular outer appearance purposefully. This in addition to the abstract placement of walls and the irregular staircase are modern representations of the irregularities of the Holocaust. Ever-changing temporary exhibits supplement the permanent exhibition called "From Deprivation of Rights to Genocide".
