  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Extraordinary view from around the statue especially after dusk!

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Walk up the Gellért Hill along the staircase starting at the hill's foot at the Liberty Bridge.

    Description:

    • The Liberty or Freedom statue (Szabadság Szobor) was erected in 1947 to commemorate Hungary's liberation from Nazi forces after WWII. Situated atop Gellért Hill next to the Citadella, the statue stands atop a pedestal and holds a palm branch over her head. Because of its location, the monument is visible from almost anywhere in the city and is a popular tourist attraction
