Victor Vasarely Museum

Description:

  • Often referred to as the father of op-art, Vasarely was born in Pécs, lived in Budapest, but left for Paris where he died in 1997. This museum was opened in 1987 after the artist donated 400 pieces of his work to the country. Downstairs you will find a number of his earlier graphic artist pieces and upstairs are the larger op-art works of colorful, geometric art. If this leaves you wanting more, there is also a museum with his work in Pécs.
