Brasserie Petanque

Description:

  • While the Swiss-born owner of this restaurant, Pascal Meyer, insists this is a brasserie and not a bistro . . . well, it's almost the same thing and certainly looks like one. Newly made with the intention of looking old, the walls are in soft yellow, with old advertising posters and other decorations, such as French flags, politely tucked into corners. The stunning tile floor was redone in a turn-of-the-20th-century style. The menu is in French and Spanish, and offers such specialties as steak tartare, lemon chicken, trout with almonds, and beef bordelaise. Chef Sebastian Fouillade once worked with Alain Ducasse. Smaller children's portions of select main menu items are available for about $10 (£7.10).
