Description:

  • This restaurant is dedicated to the memory of Argentina's most famous couple, the Peróns. The owners knew Perón personally and opened this restaurant intending to inform young Argentines and tourists about the historical couple. Authentic and important artwork and memorabilia fill the place, including a rare portrait of Juan Perón. Tango shows on Saturdays are at special prices with dinner included. In spite of the kitsch, the food and the service are excellent and authentically Argentine. Try the Chorizo El General, a slab of beef large enough for two people, served with Pastel de Papa, a potato dish that was Perón's favorite. In addition, there is a large fish selection, and interesting chicken recipes, such as Provencial- and Portuguese-style. While there are tourists here, you'll be surprised by the large number of locals. For a Peronist restaurant, the setup is somewhat formal, with Chippendale furniture.
