Hi! How are you? you can go to Paseo La Plaza (Corrientes 1660) on Thursdays at 9 pm, there are 4 women singing songs from Africa and Latin America. The group is "Violetas", they will sing songs from: Bulgaria, Ruanda, Indonesia, Venezuela, Brasil, Uruguay y la Argentina. Its $ 8 argentinian pesos. About buying music, I assume you can get some african music in ZIVALS or also in the same Paseo La Plaza, there is a place there that sells cds from all over the world. If you need any extra help you can email me to firstname.lastname@example.org. Have a great weekend!! Mariela

Hi, you can also check the followiong websites:
By the way, Zivals, the record recommended by Mariela, is on Corrientes and Callao, a few blocks away from the Obelisco. If you are staying in BA a bit longer, or if you are interested in african music in an academic way as well, I have quiet a lot of impossible-to-get-material from seminars I assisted (cd´s and articles, both in English and Spanish), regards,

Check-out a band called ´´La Bomba de Tiempo´´, leaded by Santiago Vazquez, who is in my opinion, one of the best muscicians in Argentina.
He also plays with the group called ´´Puente Celeste´´
I hope you will enjoy it
