Historical Things to Do in Buffalo

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • A trip to Buffalo would not be complete without touring the architectural gems, wineries and cultural attractions. For example, if you’re touring Downtown Buffalo you should make time to visit Buffalo City Hall. An American masterpiece of Art Deco design, this building is just one of many that mark Buffalo’s ascent to architectural fame. St. Joseph’s Cathedral is also a worthy place to stop and marvel at architectural beauty. One of the oldest houses of worship in Buffalo, this stunning church was built in 1851and boasts three beautiful stained glass windows above the main altar.

In the Chautauqua area just south of Buffalo you can go wine tasting, enjoy maritime excursions, and see some unique museums. For instance, check out Blueberry Sky Farm Winery for some deliciously sweet and dry fruit wines and spend the day picking fresh blueberries. After you’ve indulged on wine and berries, be sure to tour Chautauqua Lake on the Chautauqua Bell. In the time-honored tradition of steamboat cruises, you can buy tickets for their lunch or evening cocktail cruise and also their special fireworks or dinner cruises. If wine and cruises are not enough, you must make time to stop by the Lucy-Desi Museum. This museum is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the legacy of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
