Description:
Accommodating 500 passengers on three decks, the Ethan Allen III (brought to Lake Champlain in 2002 and 40% larger than its predecessor) offers a more genteel touring alternative to the ferry. The vistas of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks haven't changed much since Samuel de Champlain first explored the area in 1609. The enclosed decks are air-conditioned, and food and drink are served from a deli and cash bar; in addition to four-times-daily narrated tours (1 1/2 hr.), there are many specialty cruises involving dinner, music, or a murder (dramatically for mystery buffs, not a real one). Parking is available at additional cost.
