Toam Ceramic Park

Description:

  • Located in Gijang-gun, the most rural of Busan's districts, this park is actually a working center for Busan's ceramic artisans. If you time your visit right, you may be able to catch one of the craftsmen at work. Either way, you'll enjoy the wide variety of ceramic figures on display here (and the over 2,000 ceramic figures with smiles and open mouths greeting you from the hillside). If that doesn't sound all that interesting, you can also just take in the scenery from the lush surrounding garden. The small restaurant on-site is a nice place to get a delicious lunch of down-home Korean food, and the prices are very reasonable: W5,000 ($5.40/£2.70) for a simple bowl of red-bean porridge, up to W15,000 ($16/£8) for sweet-potato noodles.
