  • Los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas in particular have been so geographically blessed that there are many great things to do here, whether on land or sea. Most of the great water-based attractions are centered around the marina and Bahia San Lucas, whereas one can find land-based adventures throughout the width and breadth of Baja California Sur.

If you like a little history with your sailing, go aboard the oldest boat in all of Mexico. The topsail schooner Sunderland was built in 1885, and the piratical crew gives the best sunset tour in Los Cabos. Another of the signature activities in Los Cabos is the dolphin swim offered by Cabo Adventures. Being in the pool with these delightful creatures is an unforgettable experience. The dolphin swim is fun for all ages, and seems to make a particularly strong impression on young children.

Something a little less salty? Try our third pick, the Cabo del Sol Ocean Course. This Nicklaus designed gem is the Pebble Beach of Baja. Light up a Cuban cigar from J & J Habanos after a fantastic round of golf. This is one of the few places in town offering the genuine Cohibas, so take advantage of insider knowledge and stow a few in your golf bag.

Ready to hit the beach? Medano Beach is over two miles long and is the most popular beach in town. If you'd like something more secluded, try our seventh pick, the famed Lover's Beach. You'll need a panga or a kayak to get there, but it's worth the trip. This beautiful stretch of sand looks out over the Sea of Cortez on one side, but walk through a gap in the cliffs and you're on Divorce Beach looking out at the Pacific Ocean. The Lover's Beach side has safe swimming, but be warned that the Divorce side is tempestuous.

The Sea of Cortez has the best marlin fishing in the world. If you want to try your luck, spend a day with Slippery Lizzard Sportfishing. For those interested in swimming with fish rather than catching them, Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is the largest coral reef in North America and has an incredible array of marine life. Amigos del Mar will be glad to drive you two hours out of town for the best snorkeling or diving experience of your life. This is an adventure few visitors get to experience.
