  • With large beachfront resorts, palapa-topped cantinas, acres of sand and bikinis, and celebrity-hungry paparazzi anchored off-shore, Medano Beach is the unquestioned center of activity in Cabo San Lucas. Stretching over two miles in length, the beach is also home to many activities companies, which offer everything from wave-runners and stand-up paddle surf rentals to guided tours and charters.

On the far western side of Medano, at the juncture of the beach and the marina, is Sunderland's private dock. Built in 1885, the topsail schooner Sunderland is one of the few tall ships in the world that is still giving tours to the general public, and the boat features three distinct tour types: whale watching, snorkeling, and sunset sails. All tours include food, beverage, and an opportunity to watch the piratical crew put this historic ship through her paces. With all five sails blowing in the Pacific winds beyond Land's End, cruising aboard this 110 foot wooden treasure is like traveling back to an earlier time.

For big-game anglers and other adventurous types, the Slippery Lizzard Sportfishing fleet takes charters after the local population of marlin, tuna, dorado, wahoo, and sierra. For those who prefer looking at fish to fighting with them, Slippery Lizzard also provides snorkel tours to the rustic and fish rich Santa Maria and Chileno Bays.

Cabo Sky Tours is surely one of the most unique tours available on Medano Beach. View Land's End, Pedregal, and other local landmarks from thousands of feet in the air. Prefer water views to the aerial variety? JT Water Sports features a wide array of water-based rentals and activities, including wave runners, kayaks, parasailing, and glass-bottom boat tours. Take a kayak out to the secluded Lover's Beach for a romantic getaway, or try a glass-bottom trip for a close-up look at El Arco, Cabo's signature landmark.

Sound like too much effort? Enjoy a day at one of the premier beachside spas. Casa Dorada and Pueblo Bonito Rose' have two of the area's best, with the former featuring saltwater therapies from the mineral rich waters of the Sea of Cortez.
