Cabo San Lucas is home to many attractions, some of which are natural wonders like Medano Beach and El Arco, and others that showcase the area's reputation as a premier travel destination for championship level golf and world-class billfishing.
El Arco, or the Arch, is as synonymous with Cabo San Lucas as the Golden Gate Bridge is with San Francisco. It is the defining local landmark. Visitors can take water taxis or boat tours to explore the waters around the Arch, and, at least once every four years, walk the sands beneath the incredible rock formation on foot. Lover's Beach is another local landmark, and like El Arco, requires water-based transportation. This beach fronts Bahia San Lucas and boasts safe swimming conditions and unbeatable views of the boat traffic sailing in an out of the marina. Walk through the rocks to the Pacific side and you are on Divorce Beach, which the locals are quick to point out is five times the size of Lover's Beach. The views are even more awe-inspiring on this side, but the Pacific waters are very dangerous, so avoid swimming here.
Championship golf courses seem to be sprouting like bermuda grass in Los Cabos, many of them designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. None is more scenic or challenging than the Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol. It is the Pebble Beach of Baja California Sur, and a mandatory stop on the local links circuit. Cabo San Lucas as a tourist destination, however, began not with golf but with fishing. Marlin and tuna are abundant in the waters off San Lucas, and no big-game angler worth his salt would visit here without trying his luck with the local fish population. Of the many charters services, Pisces Sportfishing offers one of the best options. They have thirty years of experience in Los Cabos, and a fleet of vessels ranging from small pangas to luxury yachts.
