Nothing stays the same, especially in Los Cabos, where resort companies are constantly seeking to maximize their marketing potential and update or showcase their latest properties and amenities.
Grand Solmar is a partial conversion and updating of the old Solmar Suites, of which only 100 will remain. Grand Solmar Land's End Resort and Spa has spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and private access to Playa Solmar. It was designed by the architectural firm responsible for the new billion dollar Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, and had a soft opening in February of 2011. They are still finishing construction on portions of the property, and will announce a grand opening date soon.
Wyndham Los Cabos earlier this year announced they had acquired the Hotel Tesoro, a centrally located resort on the marina that had previously been known as Costa Real and Plaza Las Glorias. Wyndham has pledged ten million dollars in upgrades by 2012 to the 286 room property. With Santa Fe style architecture, and direct access to the marina boardwalk, this is once again one of the signature resorts in San Lucas.
El Ameyal is a rebranding of the former VistAzul Suites, designed to market their holistic health services. They have an array of spa treatments and massage options, including their Temazcal treatment, which is a traditional Mexican therapy along the lines of a Native American sweat lodge. With the on-site restaurant La Cascada offering low calorie health conscious cuisine, and a package of very reasonable room rates, they have favorably positioned themselves in the local wellness market.
