  Grand Solmar is the latest offering from Solmar Hotels and Resorts, whose other luxury properties locally include Playa Grande and Ridge Luxury Villas. It is a conversion and upgrade of Solmar Suites. Solmar's founder, Don Luis Bulnes, has been in Cabo San Lucas since 1955, helped open the landmark Finisterra, and has been operating Solmar since the 1970s. The Grand Solmar Land's End Resort & Spa will have a soft opening for guests on February 5,2011, with ongoing construction efforts dictating that plans for a full-scale grand opening be tentatively scheduled for sometime in May. The resort was designed by the architectural firm HKS out of Dallas, with interior design by Arquitectura De Interiores. HKS is most famous for designing the new 1.2 billion dollar Cowboys Stadium for team owner Jerry Jones, as well as the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. The soft opening in February is phase one for Grand Solmar, with 119 suites, the restaurant La Roca, and three on-site bars available to the first guests. Phase two will consist of the remaining 170 suites (buildings E, G, H, and I), and the restaurant Don Luis. Both La Roca and Don Luis will be overseen by Chef Hector Lukas, with La Roca specializing in seafood, Mexican, American, as well as continental fare, and Don Luis featuring Baja Meditteranean cuisine.  Grand Solmar's other amenities include full spa services, a beauty salon, fitness center, tennis courts, business center, 24-hour check-in and security, concierge and butler service, heated pools and jacuzzis, laundry valet, child care services, car rental desk, satellite television, on-demand movies, wireless and plug-in internet, valet parking, 24-hour in-room dining, nightly turn-down service, airport shuttle and limo service, beach side massage cabanas, and an on-site accredited romance coordinator.
