Outback and Camel Safari - Cabo San Lucas
  • Type: Camel Rides
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

    Best safari in Los Cabos.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Try a cricket with your mezcal. They are surprisingly tasty.

    Description:

    • One of the best nature excursions in Los Cabos. This tour, offered by premier tour company Cabo Adventures, is a perfect introduction to the flora and fauna of Baja California Sur. Your guide will take you on a hike as he explains the indigenous species of the area, including a magnificent 50-foot Cardon cactus that towers over the desert landscape. After the hike, enjoy a camel ride along the beach, a presentation on tortilla rolling, an ancient art that dates back to the Olmecs, and is still central to contemporary Mexican cuisine. This is followed by a delicious lunch of Mexican specialties like mole and nopales, a cool and delicious salad made from prickly pear cactus. The lunch alone is worth the price of admission. When you have finished your second helping, it is time for a tequila lesson. Your guide will explain the history and distillation processes of tequila and mezcal, and pass around shots for everyone to taste. This is hands down the most popular aspect of the tour. After a couple of shots of mescal, you will be offered a cricket prepared in lime juice and chile powder. Eat the cricket. Wash it down with more mezcal and repeat as necessary.
