Cabo Expeditions is one of the better adventure companies in Cabo, and has a wide variety of tours and eco-adventures, including whale watching (seasonal), swimming with whale sharks, parasailing, a hybrid between snorkeling and scuba diving called snuba, helmet diving, snorkel trips to Chileno and Santa Maria Bays, day trips to Isla Espiritu Santo off the coast of La Paz, and city tours around Cabo San Lucas. One of the best things about this menu of land and water based activities is that they cover a wide swath of Baja California Sur, and give visitors a very good idea of the area's diversity. Among the cooler tours are the those with helmet diving and whale sharks. Sea Trek developed helmet diving, which in updated and slimmed down version of the gigantic helmets one associates with early scuba divers. Without any dive training, you can walk along the ocean floor and have a dive-like experience surrounded by the abundant local marine life. Swimming with whale sharks is a little scary, but well worthwhile. The sharks are gentle, but they are also enormous and generally provide swimmers with a nice burst of adrenaline.

Join the bullring fiesta every Wednesday and Saturday nights at 4p. If you have never seen a bull fight, it is well worth the experience, and, contrary to what happens elsewhere, these bulls are not killed. These shows are absolutely colorful with displays of folklore, music and charros (dancers) that take place before and after the fight; this is a true favorite for Baja culture lovers.

Grilled Red Snapper seasoned with spices and mango salsa is just a sample of the rich combination of flavors on offer here. Another favorite amongst regulars is Camarones Frida y Omar (Shrimp baked in Tequila Sauce topped with Julienne Potatoes). The decor is very comfy with unusual custom-designed wicker and iron furniture. The clientele is a mix of casually dressed visitors and locals. The prices are moderate.

The three hour Land's End Tour includes stops at the Glass Blowing Factory, a glass-bottomed boat ride to Land's End, and visits to the Sea Lion's Colony and downtown Cabo San Lucas. The Rancho Los Cabo Tour is four and a half hours, and takes you to the San Jose Estuary and Bird Sanctuary and downtown San Jose Del Cabo. Watching the joy on a child's face when interacting with dolphins makes this one of the best kid-friendly activities you will find anywhere. However, this is a great treat for all ages. Cabo Dolphins offers three ways to experience the dolphins: encounters, swims, and the trainer for a day program. The encounters occur in shallow water, and are good for very young children, pregnant women, and the elderly. You can meet and pet the dolphins, watch them go through their endless array of turns and flips and, and not have to experience the physical demands (negligible by the way) of swimming with them. Swimming with the dolphins is a blast, although it is more like they are swimming for you. You grab onto their pectoral fins (or their dorsal fin for a faster moving experience) as they take you around the pool. They will also swim around you as you are floating in the water (life jackets required), and you can give them hugs and, later, dolphin kisses. The trainers at Cabo Dolphins are great, very passionate about what they do. They each have their own dolphin to train, and develop very close bonds. Facing the marina is this large outdoor Tapa bar featuring Paella, Brochettes and Tapas dinner combos. Examples are Gazpacho Andaluz and Jamon Serrano (Spanish-style cured Ham). The specialty is the Gambas al Ajillo (Shrimp in Garlic Sauce). The decor is set to inspire romance with candlelight and soft earth tones. The clientele is up-scale because the menu is pricey; but it is an evening well-spent if it fits your budget.

Canopy Costa Azul offers one of the most exciting adventures in Los Cabos, with zip-line tours that include rappelling, a tarzan swing, a rickety suspension bridge, and a tequila factory tour and tasting. Soar above cliffs and canyons at over 300 feet in the air, approaching speeds up to 50 mph using only cables, pullies, and lines. The lines stretch for over seven miles, and provide an exhilarating (and occasionally terrifying) experience for novices. But the guides here are first-rate, all certified professionals, and the commitment to safety helps allay any lingering fears on the part of guests. The instructors are also on-hand for the rappel descent, although this part of the tour may be skipped by those who have no desire to climb down a rope on a virtually sheer mountain wall.

Perhaps the best thing about Amigos is the diversity of dive sites available for tour. These include Anegada, The Point (off Land's End), La Larga, The Blowhole, Twin Dolphins Reef, Chileno Reef, Barco Varado, as well as more remote sites like Gordo Banks, and Cabo Pulmo. They will also help book you aboard the 112' dive ship Solmar V, which will take you 200 miles to the Socorro Islands for a once in a lifetime opportunity. This is an amazing selection, and they have the custom dive boats to get you there. Tours start at about 75 USD, with instruction courses beginning at about 100 USD, and equipment and camera rentals available. Dive packages are regularly advertised. This is the original SCUBA source in town, and still the best.

If you don't want to leave San Lucas without trying your luck with the local marlin, Pisces is a top choice for big-game fishermen, having been one of the stalwarts of the local charter scene for over thirty years. They offer a fleet of vessels, from pangas to large sportfishers to luxury yachts, and all charters include fishing licenses, ice, fuel, bait, tackle, crew, box lunches, and beverages. The crews are very experienced, and Pisces is much respected both for their catch totals and for their conservation efforts. They promote catch and release policies, and not only has the International Game Fish Association awarded them a Lifetime Achievement Award for their efforts, but a cadre of their captains have earned the coveted Billfish Foundation Award for Most Striped Marlin Released Worldwide Yearly. Charters are generally about eight hours long, but custom departure times are available.

The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor seating area plus a separate bar area for those interested in getting silly on Saki. The prices are moderate to expensive. The crowd is upscale and the meals are timed, so plan on enjoying the view and drinks before eating.

Just recently opened to the public is this series of inter-connected trails through the Cabo Real natural reserve. It's a desert park tour on an ATV that runs from the ocean to the base of the mountain range. Don't fret if you've never ridden a four-wheeler, the staff will teach you. Some of the things you will see are natural waterfalls and canyons and a vast variety of botanical jungle and desert life. Many other tours are offered as well including walking tours, boat rides, whale watching cruises and more.
