Description:
Cabo San Lucas is a great weekend getaway from the west coast. It is almost always sunny, it only rains a few inches per year. Cabo is somewhat over developed and it can be an unpleasant situation if you don't plan correctly. I suggest making car, activity and dinner reservations ahead of time, often the good things to do are sold out if you leave it to your arrival. The party scene can get out of hand, so it is best to navigate to quieter venues. Traveling north of the main tourist is very nice, I suggest even do you fishing north of town along the sea of cortez.
Day Note:
We were lucky to arrive early in the day, we checked into our resort. There are many other wonderful resorts to choose from. We decided to take it easy and enjoy the beach. We listed 2 of the nicest beaches below. We took a water taxi over to the beaches. Go to Playa el Medano so you can enjoy a beachside meal at "the Office". We also listed the outback tour which takes you into the desert, this was very fun, try it if you have extra time. Try the sunset...read more

Description:
From Cabo San Lucas, you'll travel twenty miles east to San Jose (where the international airport is), then, twenty minutes north of San Jose is a small town called Santiago. Near Santiago, there is a desert area filled with marine fossils. The tour provides information from past centuries of the ocean covering this desert and you'll see examples of fish, snails, giant clams and more. This is a perfect outing for someone who is not up for the wilder activities that are so prevalent. Guests are transported in a luxurious motor coach.

Our Local Expert Says:
Although Lover's beach is beautiful due to it's rock formations it is a bit of a difficult trip due to the fact that you can only get here by boat and disembarking from the panga can be difficult especially for children or older visitors. Make sure you make a note of who which boat you came on and what time you told him to return for you. Otherwise they may charge you again for the return trip.
Description:
Frequently pictured in brochures of Cabo, this is the beach next to the famous rock arch formation, Arch of Poseidon, at Land's End. Water taxis wait for your signal to deliver you to this famous beach. Just a rock wall (and a matter of yards) from the Pacific Ocean, this area is sheltered from the pounding waves. Named for its romantic and semi-remote area, it's rarely unpopulated enough to feel particularly romantic. Snorkelers tend to prefer the viewing at the eastern end of the beach.

Best beach in Los Cabo.
Description:
Spring break on MTV happens here every day. The Mango Deck is ground zero for the top banana eating contest in the world. The sex position contest is not recommended for the whole family. The bartenders will call you up on stage and proceed to drink you under the table. The beach itself is huge, about two miles long, and filled with restaurants, bars, souvenirs vendors, and opportunities for fun on the water. You can rent wave runners, kayaks, go parasailing, have a panga take you out to Land's End, or drop you off back at the marina. Swimming is extremely safe here, and although you won't find any lifeguards in Cabo San Lucas, they rope off areas for swimming so that you aren't run down in your prime by a renegade wave runner. Dining and drinking options other than the Mango Deck include The Office, Baja Cantina, The Sand Bar, and the Medano Beach Club. The beach is a short walk from downtown, but the local taxi drivers will be glad to take your money if you want to save your energy for sun-soaked debauchery. -

Best Medano Beach palapa bar.
Description:
The Office on Medano Beach is a long-time favorite among locals, who like the irony of having business meetings here. This is a palapa-topped bar and restaurant with a full bar and a large array of menu options, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is one of the best places to sit back in the shade and watch all the action on San Lucas' most popular beach. The breakfast menu is heavy on omelets and smoothies, with the lunch menu featuring a lot of seafood and hearty fare like hamburgers. The dinner menu offers traditional Mexican dishes, as well as seafood and steak options. There are specialty cocktails for each meal. Thursday nights are Gran Fiesta Mexicana, with pre-Colombian folk dancing, waiter's shows, audience participation, pinatas, candy for children, free tequila shooters, and other treats. There is a special menu for Thursday nights, the best option being the combination with shrimp enchiladas and lobster-stuffed chile rellenos. -

Day Note:
Cabo is famous for it's fishing so we started out early and went fishing. If you don't like fishing we also enjoyed a Rancho tour to La Paz. It is a very mexican feeling town, worth a visit. After fishing we stop at the La Perla for lunch and then took in a spa to wash away the fish smell. We also suggest the bull fight which is also fun if you are not a spa person. To further wind down after the spa enjoy a tequila and a cigar at El Agave. We choose Mariscos...read more

This simple Mexican eatery holds the loyalty of many locals who come here for breakfast and lunch. While the decor may be no-frills, the establishment does have a small town appeal to it. Bulls, horses, music, color and tradition….the good part is they do not kill the bull!!
Description:
Join the bullring fiesta every Wednesday and Saturday nights at 4p. If you have never seen a bull fight, it is well worth the experience, and, contrary to what happens elsewhere, these bulls are not killed. These shows are absolutely colorful with displays of folklore, music and charros (dancers) that take place before and after the fight; this is a true favorite for Baja culture lovers.

More a bar than a restaurant. Very busy late at night.
Description:
The center of the Plaza del Mar shopping center holds a 30-40 person outdoor bar, and it is open all day long. This bar is internationally known as the Tequila server and offers 150 kinds of Tequila's. The name comes from the Agave plant from which Tequila is made. A miniscule offering of tapas (appetizers) are provided (really just four kinds of nachos thrown under a heat lamp until the bar-tender pulls them out). It is a fun place for a drink during the day though, and it offers people watching.

Seafood is alive and flourishing under this extra large palapa. It is a local favorite for lovers of seafood and draws many local fishermen, along with a wide range of visitors lucky enough to happen upon its doorstep. It is a "no-frills decor" restaurant with white and blue plastic tablecloths atop two- and four-person tables, but it offers some fantastic food. Sample the seafood soup and crab in garlic sauce. Another house specialty is freshly caught grilled red snapper.

Today we rented a car and drove 1 hour north along the pacific to Todos Santos. The drive is wonderful and the town is very cute with many ex-pats running art galleries. There a bunch of fine restaurants but we were told to eat at the taco stand, on the main street. They have great fish tacos. There are many galleries which are always opening and closing, we listed a few here. There are many nice boutiques as well. We headed back for dinner so we wouldn't have...read more

Upscale Japanese. Beautifully presented. They will deliver.
Description:
If you are a fan of Japanese barbecue and Sushi, then consider this place. It is a fairly new establishment here and it has already become a favorite. The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor seating area plus a separate bar area for those interested in getting silly on Saki. The prices are moderate to expensive. The crowd is upscale and the meals are timed, so plan on enjoying the view and drinks before eating.
