Description:

  • This hotel opened in 2003 in a patrician merchant's house originally built in 1859 on profits generated from trade with Spanish colonies in the New World. The hotel's centerpiece is a graceful three-story courtyard lined with stone columns and capped with a skylight. Each of the bedrooms evokes late-19th-century Cádiz, with a variety of mostly monochromatic color schemes that includes a courageous use of vibrant pinks, blues, and buttercup yellow. Each of the other rooms is named for a historical event or person significant to the history of Cádiz. A favorite of ours is La Caleta, with a mirador-style glassed-in balcony overlooking the busy pedestrian traffic on the street below. This was the Old Town's first hotel to combine a historic core with modern-day conveniences.
