The Best of NileGuide

Cairo is a good city for five star restaurants, not least because there are lots of posh hotels containing decent restaurants. Five star dining is also significantly cheaper than in many other countries.
For a combination of hyper-cool, modern surrounds and fantastic food, Indigo - with its Spanish, Indonesian and Vietnamese fusion cuisine - and Tamarai - with its Michelin starred chef - are hard to beat.
The Moghul Rooms has some of the best authentic Indian food in Cairo, and although the setting is quite restrained, the service is excellent. Lai Thai also has restrained, elegant surroundings, and a far from extensive menu, but the food is so good they don't put prices on the menu! Seasons is another Four Seasons First Residence special, but this time it's mouth-watering Italian in more opulent surrounds.
Five star traditional Egyptian food is served up at Aboul Sid, which has branches in Zamalek, Mohandiseen and Maadi. The surroundings at the Zamalek branch in particular are arabesque extravagant, and the restaurant is understandably popular with tourists and locals alike.
Aqua specializes in seafood - including sushi and sashimi - as well as steak. How can you go wrong with a restaurant that has a sushi and steak buffet one day a week, and a lobster and caviar buffet another? Fuze is another five star dining experience with excellent seafood - preparing oysters and tiger prawns, along with varied international dishes with an Egyptian twist.
Jayda lounge and bar is a great place to sample quality grilled meats whilst sitting on the balcony, watching the Nile drift past and listening to some live music in the background.
