Egyptians love children, and Cairo has a surprising amount of kid friendly stuff to do. Let's face it, your kids probably know more about ancient Egypt than you do, so the top two kid friendly things to do in Cairo have to be the Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum! Your children might not want to spend too long in the museum, and it is rather full on, but they'll love the Tutankhamen exhibit – including the gold death mask – as well as the mummy section.
Dr Ragab's Pharaonic Village is great for kids – a living museum where they can explore the day to day life of ancient Egypt, and get dressed up and photographed in pharaonic garb. Cairo Zoo may not be the best in the world, but there are enough lions, monkeys and snakes to keep your little ones amused.
The outdoorsy kid friendly options in Cairo include a camel ride around the outside of the Pyramids. Although camels are undeniably high off the ground, they are easy to ride and move slowly, so are safe for children. If you are at all worried, there's space to ride on the same camel as your kid. Al-Azhar Park is another good option for children in Cairo, to give them a chance to run around and stretch their legs a bit.
Finally, Cairo has a number of kid friendly amusement parks. Dream Park is about 150 acres of fun, with a range of activities for children of all ages, right on up to adult. And Magic Galaxy is in City Stars, so the adults can shop whilst the kiddies play.
