• More like a small resort town than a hotel, the JW Marriott has everything from a water park to a golf course. Located a 10-minute drive from the airport, it's a bit out of the way for the pyramids in Giza and the Saqqara, but it's actually as convenient to Khan al Khalili, The Citadel, and Islamic Cairo as the big downtown and Zamalek hotels. At the end of the day, however, it isn't Cairo sights that drive this hotel's popularity, but quite the opposite: From the extravagant lobby to the acres of greenery and the artificial beach, the intention is to take you away from the city. The rooms are spacious and lushly decorated, as if compensating for a somewhat generic overall look and feel. All of them look out over either the golf course or the water park. If a pause from the chaos and the excitement and something absolutely predictable and familiar is what you need, this is a good base for your Cairo visit.
