Description:

• Maison Thomas has been around for years, and counts as one of Cairo's best loved institutions. It's a chain of restaurants, with its flagship branch on Zamalek.
  
  Maison Thomas is tiny: a few small tables jammed in to a wood panelled room, squashed against the deli bar and kitchen. Vintage pictures and photos dating back to the early part of the 20th Century decorate the walls. Although the menu isn't that extensive, the food is delicious: original salad combinations, tasty sandwiches, and some of the best thin-crust pizzas in Cairo.
  
  Best of all, and responsible in no small part for its popularity, Maison Thomas serves genuine pork. This is the place to come if you are craving a ham and pineapple pizza, or proper pepperoni; it's just a pity they don't serve bacon sarnies! Maison Thomas also offers a good range of desserts: the cheesecakes and Tart Tatin are particularly well regarded.
  
  Furthermore, Maison Thomas is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offers a comprehensive set breakfast in the mornings. They also do delivery. There are other branches in Mohandiseen and Heliopolis.
  
  NOTE - since the H1N1 scare, and the culling of all the pigs here, pork has been very hard to come by. Don't be too disappointed if not even Maison Thomas has any.
