Taha Hussein Museum

Description:

  • This museum pays tribute to Dr. Taha Hussein (1889-1973), the doyen of Arabic Literature. Blind since childhood, Hussein nonetheless managed to publish over 50 books on Egyptian political, cultural and social issues. He was one of the country's leading intellectual figures and served as Minister of Education, during which time he introduced the principle of free education. Housed in the former residence of the late philosopher-thinker, the museum's highlights include Hussein's study and 7000-book library.
