Tentmakers Bazaar (Souq Al-Khiamiyya)

Description:

  • Built in 1650, this is the city's only surviving covered market and a wonderful place to visit even if you don't plan to buy anything. Shops on either side of the narrow alley feature handmade cotton appliqué everything from pillow cases to cushions and quilts. The colors are brilliant and the Islamic motifs make them ideal souvenirs. Check the stitching carefully, as the quality is variable.
