i think you should contact the egyptian embassy or consolate in your city for he visa. for sure, american and europeans can obtain the visa in the airport, about philipinos, i am not sure. as for how much do you need, it depends on your spending habits, but i would say 100 $ a day would be fine if you live moderately.welcome to egypt

Hi - you have some good answers but also some wrong information. As you are from the Philippines you CANNOT GET A VISA AT THE AIRPORT. You must get a visa before you arrive.

To apply for a visa, contact the nearest Egyptian consulate.

Your application requires the following documents:

A passport that is valid for at least another six months
One passport-sized photograph
A completed application form
The visa fee depends on your nationality. South African and Sudanese citizens pay no fee, others pay between US$ 20 and 60. A tourist visa is valid for three months from the date of issue and allows you to stay in Egypt for 30 days from the date of your arrival.

I hope this helps. You will have a whirlwind tour in 3 days but I hope you have a great time - the pyramids are simply awesome. Your level of spending will depend on what accommodation you take etc. and if you make a quick air trip anywhere. I would count on spending around US$1200 to cover everything but you coudl do it much cheaper than that. If I can be of any help in getting an itinerary ready for you please email me and I'll be delighted to cost something more specific for you.

Lyndall

you can get the visa when you arrive at the airport for about $15. Food will not cost you much but hotels might, depending on their rating and location.

The Visa is easy to get from the airport and won't cost you much.
As for your stay that depends on the type of luxury you want in that stay. The prices greatly vary according to the type of hotel from 5 star hotels to student hostels in downtown.
best of luck

Well, The visa part you will need one . I think it is better to go to the Egyptian embassy or council there to get. But I think you can get the visa at the airport when you arrive too. It doesnt cost much about 20-25 dollars only.
How much money do you need is a very general question. It depends on your accomodation, what places are you going to visit? What kind of transportation you will be using, etc.
Anyway , there are 3 stars hotels in cairo which charge for 29 dollars per night!

You can obtain an entry visa at any of the major airports or ports of entry. All foreigners arriving in Egypt should have a valid passport (with at least 6 months left, before expiry) to get an entry visa.

How to obtain your visa at the airport:
The visa is simply a stamp (like a mail or postage stamp) that you buy from the visa office, which you arrive at, just before the immigration booth; you can't miss it! The visa will cost you around $15 and after buying it; you just stick in any empty page on your passport. Don't worry; it’s so easy! Once you have bought your visa you then stand in line to get your passport stamped by the immigration officer.
