- Calabar is another traveled Tourist Destination of Nigeria. It is located in the southeastern part of the country. Calabar is also the capital of the Cross River State. It became an international port from the 16th century and was a major slave port from the late 17th century to the 19th century. It also features the earliest military barracks, first Presbyterian Church, the first monorail, public general hospital, the oldest post office and botanical gardens.
